Polyglyceryl-10 Stearate
Science & Benefits
Polyglyceryl-10 Stearate is a polyglycerol ester used to stabilize oil-in-water emulsions. It is characterized by its ability to form a lamellar structure that mimics the skin's natural lipid bilayer, effectively 'locking' water into the stratum corneum. While it carries a zero comedogenic rating, its stearate backbone makes it a potential metabolic substrate for Malassezia yeast; thus, it is a 'Yellow Flag' for fungal acne users. For standard acne-prone skin, it is a safe, effective humectant-emulsifier that provides structural hydration and a soft, non-greasy skin feel.
Safety Alerts
Fungal Acne: This ingredient is a lipid/ester that can feed Malassezia yeast. Avoid if you have active FA bumps.
Non-Vegan: This ingredient is typically derived from animal sources (e.g. beeswax, lanolin, carmine).
