Phenoxyethanol
Science & Benefits
Phenoxyethanol is a globally utilized preservative that has largely replaced parabens in modern skincare. It is found naturally in green tea but is typically synthesized for cosmetic use to ensure purity. Extensive clinical data from the Cosmetic Ingredient Review (CIR) confirms that it is non-comedogenic and safe at concentrations up to 1%. While it can cause a mild stinging or 'flush' in a small percentage of users with extreme hypersensitivity, it is generally considered one of the safest and least irritating preservatives available today. It effectively prevents the growth of bacteria, yeast, and mold without impacting pore health.
