PEG-8 Dimethicone
Science & Benefits
PEG-8 Dimethicone is a water-soluble silicone derivative. Unlike standard Dimethicone, which can be occlusive, the attachment of PEG-8 groups makes this molecule hydrophilic (water-loving). This allows it to act as a humectant and a surface-tension reducer, providing the silky, smooth application associated with silicones without any of the pore-clogging potential. It is entirely non-comedogenic and is a 'bulletproof' choice for creating oil-free primers and moisturizers for acne-prone skin. It allows the skin to breathe while providing a silky barrier that protects against moisture loss, making it ideal for those with oily but dehydrated complexions.
