Hydrogenated Vegetable Oil is produced by the addition of hydrogen to liquid vegetable oils, turning them into solid or semi-solid waxes. This process increases the melting point and alters the molecular shape of the fats, making them significantly more occlusive. While this is beneficial for extreme dryness, it is a major 'Red Flag' for acne-prone skin. The solidified fats have a high affinity for human sebum and can easily solidify within the pore, creating a physical plug or comedo. Its rating of 3 reflects a moderate-to-high risk of causing 'acne cosmetica' in users with oily or combination skin who require breathable moisture rather than thick occlusion.
