CI 15800
Science & Benefits
CI 15800 is a calcium-based red pigment used primarily in theatrical makeup and high-pigment decorative cosmetics. Its comedogenic potential is rated as moderate-to-high (3) because of its chemical compatibility with the lipids found in human skin. It is frequently found in 'heavy-duty' coverage products where the pigment load is extremely high. Because these products are designed to stay on the skin for long periods, the pigment has ample time to migrate into the sebaceous unit. It is a known trigger for acne along the cheekbones and temples where skin is thinner and pores are more prone to occlusion.
