Science & Benefits

Cera Alba, or Beeswax, is a natural wax composed of fatty acid esters and long-chain alcohols. In skincare, it acts as a mild occlusive, forming a thin, protective barrier that prevents moisture loss. While it has a comedogenic rating of 2 (low-to-moderate), it is generally well-tolerated in lightweight lotions. However, in heavy balms or salves, its waxy structure can trap sebum and sweat, potentially leading to congestion in highly active, oily skin types. For most acne-prone users, it is a 'Yellow Flag' ingredient: perfectly safe in small concentrations for barrier repair, but one to avoid in thick, greasy ointments.
