Science & Benefits
Algin is a polysaccharide distributed widely in the cell walls of brown algae. It is used as a thickener and gelling agent. Despite its hydrating properties, it is highly comedogenic (Rating 4), as it can physically obstruct the follicle. It is a logical 'avoid' for acne sufferers, as it contributes to the 'clumping' of sebum and dead skin cells within the pore.
