Alcohol Denat
Science & Benefits
Alcohol Denat is a low-molecular-weight solvent used to thin product textures and facilitate the penetration of active ingredients like Vitamin C or Retinol. By temporarily dissolving the skin's protective lipid barrier, it creates 'channels' for deeper delivery. However, this process is an intellectual trade-off: while it improves efficacy, it significantly increases the risk of irritant-induced breakouts. Chronic use can lead to barrier impairment and dehydration, which ironically triggers the skin to produce more sebum, potentially leading to 'rebound' acne. It is best suited for oily skin types when balanced with reparative humectants.
Safety Alerts
Fungal Acne: This ingredient is a lipid/ester that can feed Malassezia yeast. Avoid if you have active FA bumps.
Pregnancy: Some studies suggest absorption or systemic effects. We recommend switching to a pregnancy-safe alternative.
